Background

I began in the field of massage in 2006 when I signed up at the Wellington College of Remedial Massage Therapy's distance program. At the time, I did not know much about massage, only that I thought it would be a better fit for me than the job I was doing at the time in accounting because it seemed to be much more hands on and you can see results. I also had recently lost my brother to cancer and during his ordeal, he needed massage badly. I thought it would be great to offer others in need a better massage than the Canadian Tire hand held massagers could offer.

School taught me so much about this fascinating world of massage. At first I was horrified at the prospect of going to the cadavor labs at the Health Sciences Centre to view and learn about our "silent teachers" that had so generously donated their bodies to science. Over time I knew that it was an incredible opportunity where I could learn so much about the amazing human body. At school I also learned about all that massage could do, from the stereotypical relaxation massage, to effectively treating muscle pain, exercise rehabilitation and the huge effects massage could have on people suffering with various pathologies such as arthritis, gastrointestinal conditions, COPD's, Parkinson's, and the list goes on and on.

After obtaining the basic diploma I could not imagine walking away with the little knowledge I had after 1 year of studying this industry that could result in so much healing for so many people. I began working on clients performing basic massage in the evenings and during spare time on the weekends while maintaining my full-time office job and studying the Advanced Program over the next 2 years.

In the advanced program I learned how to effectively treat so many other conditions such as TMJ dysfunction, neck and back muscular dysfunctions, pelvic and hip dysfunctions and so many other areas.

In 2009 I graduated with an Advanced Diploma and walked away with the Abe Reimer award of excellence. Since graduating, I now practice out of my home full time. I am very lucky to have such a great job that is so very rewarding.

Many thanks for visiting my site and/or my business and I look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

Lindsay Penner
